### Success To Treatment Of Pectus Carinatum Is Wearing The Orthosis

The custom-made orthosis should be positioned and worn as instructed by the Orthotist. To maximize compression and correction the patient should be encouraged to wear the orthosis as much as possible and as tight as tolerable. The patient is suggested to wear the orthosis a maximum of 23 hours or as directed by the referring physician. Brace should be removed while participating in sports and during bathing or showering. The physician will determine when correction has been accomplished and a weaning protocol will be worked out.

**Comfort Tips**

Always wear your Pectus brace over a cotton tee shirt that provides coverage in all of the contact areas of the brace. Try to keep the fabric smooth against skin and avoid fabric wrinkles or bunching.
